Let’s Get Talking, Let’s Make Friends!
Face to Face is a child-centered social skills summer program for students who could improve upon a variety of abilities leading to better social and communicative relationships with friends and family.
Face to Face is designed to teach children what friends really are, how to make them and what to do with them. The class will incorporate movement, simple dance steps and physical group games that incorporate team work, physical coordination skills and sensory integration.
Face to Face provides an amazing opportunity for children to meet other students and carry those friendships into the school year. The main priority of the class is to provide a safe environment for kids to explore and practice their ability to be social with friends and have a lot of fun.
Students will learn about and practice;
Ø How to introduce themselves and others to new people
Ø That learning about each other through conversation builds friendship
Ø How to choose appropriate topics for conversation
Ø How to ask questions and make comments in conversations
Ø What is ‘hanging out’, why and how do we do it
Ø Physical movement and simple dance steps
Ø Feeling comfortable, engaging and having fun in a social setting
Ø How to let loose and be silly with their friends
Ø Elements of sportsmanship (cheering, loosing, congratulating)
Ø How to work as a team; using names, encouraging others
Ø Responding and communicating in complete sentences
A note on movement and dance: Physical movement and dance have an amazing ability to develop confidence and more natural mannerisms, especially during conversation.
Testimonial: Parents of students who have worked with us notice a dramatic increase in their child's interest in others, in their desire to communicate and ability to have conversations and to make new friends. Session 1 DAY TIME DATES
